Lore

Not so long ago, the world was governed by the spirits of fire, water, wind, earth, and soul. These spirits gave humans the ability to channel powerful magic. One particular magic allowed humanity and animals to live side by side as equals through the magic of soul binding. Through soul binding, a human could bind their soul to another animal as an ultimate gesture of respect and love. The resulting binding allowed humans and animals to directly communicate and offered many other advantages, amongst which was the Whimzu’s immortality for as long as the human should live. In return, humans took on some of their Whimzu’s physical and personality traits.

Overtime, humans learned not only how to master channeling, but also learned that their animals could be taught how to channel as well.

Some humans only had the ability to bind one or two animals as companions, while others developed the ability to bind many. The most talented of these were known as Vinurri (great friends) and they set out to use their bonds with their many animals to make the world a better place.

As often happens when such great and wonderful gifts are bestowed on humankind, some people chose to abuse these gifts in a bid to amass power. This group came to be known as the Ovinurri (enemies) and they used their power and their animals in the name of conquest.

Now the world is split into 3 factions. The Vinurri, sworn keepers of peace and all that is good. The Ovinurri, hellbent on conquest and the subjugation of every living being, and The Safnurri (collectors) who try to live a life of non violence with their Whimzu companions.
